The Sad Soul

Lost are the days we saw emotions
In a cycle, we’ve ascended a new confusion,
Forgotten we have days, weeks and
the normal that once was enjoyed
Eyes full of sadness see the world,
With a filter of grief and pain.
Different faces on different days,
Yet held with the same layers of pain.
An outrage of madness is felt
When all is sought is peace,
for some emotions are free
While the soul is shackled by grief.
A smile becomes a lie to appease,
Hiding the feelings, the soul quells.
All so happiness becomes eluded and
through lies, feelings become secluded
The pain, the sadness, the grief,
Yet a second thought they become,
As I present myself to the world
Not as myself but as thyself.
I complain of life and goals,
Yet am quiet of what the soul has felt,
And while things become silent
I leave myself alone in thoughts.
We live yet dead, smile yet in sadness
Oh, how the world has taught us pain.
We hide behind masks of happiness,
Yet almost never find the source of grace.
We seek measures to be free and happy,
But happiness ceased to exist,
When living became lifeless
and freedom became a fantasy.
I speak of the sadness felt,
Yet sadness seems to define me,
So i remain awake in the darkness,
As I drift into the world of shadows.
